Walt Disney World Announces Park Opening

Walt Disney World has submitted their plans to the County and announced plans to reopen Walt Disney World after the COVID-19 pandemic.  Starting with Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom on Saturday, July 11th and then Hollywood Studios and Epcot opening July 15th! This is all pending both County and State Approval.

Disney will be reaching out to Cast Members soon to prepare them to come back to work.  There will be new processes in place and training will be needed for the returning Cast.

This will be a phased reopening with limited capacity the objective is to Establish and implement enhanced health and safety protocols for a safe responsible reopening.   The following measures will be in place. Cast members as well as guests 3 years of age and older will be required to wear appropriate face coverings in theme parks and common areas of resort hotels. All guests will also undergo temperature screenings prior to entering a theme park; cast members will also have temperature checks both at home and when arriving to work. Disney has also announced that cashless transactions are recommended, and cleaning and disinfection procedures will be increased in high-traffic areas.

This phase reopening also means that certain experiences will not happen at this time such as parades, fireworks and nighttime spectaculars.  Also face to face experiences such as character greetings will return at a later date.

Because capacity will be limited  a new theme park reservation system that will require all guests to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance. Also at this time they are temporarily pausing new reservations for hotels and new ticket sales.

Additionally, Disney has announced that both  Disney Vacation Club resorts and Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground will begin to reopen on June 22.

At this time these policies are subject to change but Disney is doing everything possible to keep both the Cast and Guests safe.
